The Ubuntu
difference.

Most treatment models treat addiction as an individual problem. Ubuntu says otherwise.

The Ubuntu philosophy — "I am because we are" — is not a slogan at the Foundation Clinic. It is the clinical model. Recovery happens in community, through honest relationship, peer accountability and the recognition that no person heals alone.

This is why our methodology works where others have not. It meets people where they are — not just in their diagnosis, but in their humanity. It has been tested over 20 years in Johannesburg and refined into the WRP programme now operating across three continents.

Why South Africa

Three reasons international
clients choose Johannesburg.

01
Away from home
Distance from familiar triggers, social pressures and enabling environments is often the missing ingredient. Johannesburg provides a genuine geographic break — far enough to create space, close enough to feel supported.
02
Ubuntu methodology
You cannot find this approach at a clinic in Surrey or Amsterdam. The Ubuntu model — community-based, lived experience at its core, peer accountability built in — is uniquely African and uniquely effective for people who have tried everything else.
03
Cost-effective excellence
World-class licensed treatment at a fraction of the cost of equivalent UK or European facilities. The same clinical rigour. The same MAUNi methodology. The same connection to the global recovery ecosystem. Without the premium price tag.
The programme

A structured journey
from crisis to community.

The Foundation Clinic programme is built on the same bio-psycho-social model that underpins the MAUNi WRP — moving people from a culture of addiction to a culture of recovery.
